Invite Other Users

Overview

There is no charge for additional users.

Invite others to join your workspace to collaborate over your data.

Navigate to workspace settings:

Then go to the Users & Roles tab:

Each user is identified by their email address and is assigned a role and organizational scope.

When you add a user to your workspace, they'll receive an email invite and can then choose to accept or reject the invitation from within the app. You can re-send the invitation if needed using the Send Reminder button.

Roles

A role determines which actions a user can take in your workspace. (More specifically, it determines the set of privileges the user has.)

Available roles are:

  • admin - Administrator with rights to everything, including managing users in the workspace and their roles
  • engineer - Can fully manage workspace settings and organizations, deploy agents, and can query event data
  • analyst - Can only view and query data but not change anything
  • finance_admin - Can manage and view all billing data and functions, but has no access to organization or event data

Organizational scope

Each user is also assigned an organization scope that determines which data they will be able to query.

When data is ingested, it is associated with the organization that is associated with the log forwarding agent (or in the advanced use case a child organization of its associated organization). This allows you to compartmentalize data hierarchically and then provide access only to the data appropriate for that role.

For example, you could choose to setup a separate organization for your dev environment, staging environment, and production environment, and only give your software engineers access to data in the dev environment organization, while giving your software reliability engineers access to data in all environments.

The scope is set when creating or editing the user (invitation):
